Somatic Experiencing® | Practice Sessions
SE™ is a body-based approach developed by Dr. Peter A. Levine to support trauma resolution and nervous system resilience.

Instead of merely talking about problems, we focus on how emotions and past experiences are stored in the body and how we can gently work with them to restore balance.
SE™ can support in the matters of:
-
Relational Challenges: trust issues, intimacy struggles, avoidance patterns
-
Trauma/PTSD: flashbacks, intrusive memories, frozen states Stress &
-
Anxiety: hypervigilance, chronic tension, restlessness
-
Emotional Dysregulation: overwhelm, numbness, unresolved grief
-
Nervous System Dysregulation: dissociation, on-edge feelings, activation cycles
-
Physical Symptoms: fatigue, chronic pain, somatic complaints.
What Happens in a Session?
A session is a guided process of awareness, exploration, and regulation. It’s not bodywork, meaning I don’t physically touch or manipulate your body. Instead, I help you tune into your inner experience in a way that feels safe and manageable.
1 / Check-in
We begin by discussing how you’re feeling and what you'd like to focus on in the session. This could be a physical sensation, an emotion, or a particular situation you want support with.
2 / Exploration of Sensations
We focus on noticing and tracking sensations in your body, such as tension or warmth. I may ask:
-
What do you notice in your body right now?
-
Where do you feel tension or movement?
-
What happens if you bring your attention to that sensation?
This helps you connect with how your body holds and processes stress or emotions.
3 / Resourcing & Regulation
I help you connect with resources—safe or calming sensations, memories, or images that bring comfort. This strengthens your nervous system’s ability to stay regulated, especially when exploring intense emotions or memories.
4 / Complete Stress Responses
Trauma and stress often leave our nervous system in an unfinished state. We gently guide your system to complete these natural stress responses (such as fight or flight) so that your body can release held tension and return to a state of balance.
4 / Integration & Closure
At the end of the session, we take time to notice any shifts in your body and emotions. I help you ground these changes, so you leave feeling more stable, connected, and at ease.

The paradox of trauma is that it has both the power to destroy and the power to transform and resurrect.
